Furniture Style
An article by George Gray

When you buy a new home or want to redecorate the one you have, shopping for new furniture can be the highlight of the whole project.

There are many different types of furniture, and choosing the perfect set will prove to be difficult. You may have your mind set on a certain style, however when you actually see the variety of choices that you have, you will make many choices before actually deciding on one.

Rustic, Antique, Modern, European, Victorian, or Contemporary, are just some of the styles you will encounter when you first start your search for the perfect furniture.

Rustic furniture is usually made of natural material such as wood. It is usually handcrafted and can reflect the different regions where they are created. Whereas Antique furniture is totally opposite. Antique furniture tends to characterize old world charm and warmth.

Modern furniture has been very popular since the 1950s. It is usually made out of chrome, plastic, or vinyl. Many people choose modern furniture because it fits well into almost any décor.

European furniture is perhaps the most elegant furniture in the world. There are three categories of European furniture, Italian, French, and English. Each group of furniture has its own characteristics that make it unique.

Italian style furniture can be made of marble, fabric, stone or wood. Depending on the style, Italian furniture makers use Roman influence to complete their pieces. French style furniture is usually large and ornate. It is handcrafted and elaborately made. French furniture is usually the most expensive of all the European furniture.

English Furniture is strong and durable, yet is elegant with its delicately hand carved features. It is usually made of rich mahogany, walnut or oak. Although the style of English furniture is much like Rustic, each has its own characteristics. Most of the English furniture is covered in fine fabrics.

It is important to know the differences between furniture styles before you start shopping. This will assure that you will choose the right type for your home.

Everyone receives fliers in the mail, advertising blow out sales that you cannot pass up. Furniture sales are no different.

Manufacturers and furniture stores rely on advertising their merchandise in order to generate sales. A photograph in a flier of a living room or bedroom can inspire you to purchase what you see or use the furniture to create the room of your dreams. You are limited only by your imagination.
